NEW Authentic Feature Films

Students are better able to connect with the focus of the Intrigas program through contemporary feature films. The topics are interesting and easily promote discussion. The two new feature films are:

  • Maixabel de Icíar Bollán – Lección 3
  • Argentina, 1985 de Santiago Mitr – Lección 4

NEW Literary Readings

Authentic literature exposes students to the nuances of the Spanish language and the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. The seven new literary readings, including five by female authors, are:

  • Isolda en el espejo (II) by Rosario Ferré – Lección 1
  • Barrio chino by Guadalupe Dueñas – Lección 11
  • Thanatopía by Rubén Darío – Lección 3
  • Primer amor by Cristina Peri Rossi – Lección 4
  • Hombres necios by sor Juana Inés de la Cruz – Lección 5
  • El arrepentido by Ana María Matute – Lección 6
  • Chac Mool by Carlos Fuentes – Lección 6

NEW Rubrics for Compositions

Assessment is now easier with online rubric grading. For each composition, instructors can either use a pre-designed rubric or formulate their own. Online grading rubrics contribute to a more organized, transparent, and efficient assessment process that benefits both instructors and students by promoting fair evaluation, constructive feedback, and alignment with learning objectives.

NEW Web-Only Proyecto with Rubrics

Each lesson includes a theme-based project where students investigate and reflect on topics presented in the films and readings. These projects help students gain a deeper understanding of the culture and see the real-world applications of the language. Projects also encourage creativity and critical thinking, which are essential skills of lifelong language learners. As with the compositions, instructors have access to editable project rubrics to make assessment fair and efficient.

NEW Group Chat Activities for Increased Oral Practice

Group Chats provide an opportunity for students to practice Spanish in a comfortable setting and in real time. The informal nature of the chats reduces anxiety and encourages participation. Because the chats are in real time, fluency improves as students must think and respond quickly. Group Chats provide an interactive and dynamic environment for language learning.
