Get Ready! provides systematic and explicit phonics instructions that is appropriate for teenage learners.
Get Ready! includes a variety of reading genres such as informational text, biography, narrative, poem, mystery, science fiction, and historical fiction.
Grammar is presented in four manageable chunks in each unit. Self-evaluation allows students to recognize areas in which they need to further develop their skills, and metacognitive questions encourage students to think about their learning.
Animated Grammar Tutorials engage students by pairing grammar rules with clear and fun explanations. Tutorials also include interactive activities to check for comprehension.
The Content sections provide an explicit focus on building academic literacy while cultivating English language development—Content to Science, Connect to Math, Connect to Social Studies.
Connect to Science content is inquiry based and driven by ELD standards and guided by Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Connect to Math content is guided by academic standards that pull from the CCSS in math including attention to mathematical representation and discourse.
Connect to Social Studies content is inquiry based and thematic, driven by academic and ELD standards.
Connect to Electives—different from unit to unit and guided by ELD standards, elective topics include: Business, Computer Science, Drama, Journalism, World Languages, Music, Physical Education, and Career and technical education.

Connect to Media provides students with access to authentic, award-winning short films. Students learn how to view media through a critical lens.
